People of Izmir ran from Ata to Ana!

Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was commemorated with the "Respect Run from Atatürk to Mother" in Izmir on the 88th anniversary of his death.

1500 registered runners who participated in the organization organized by Karşıyaka Municipality for the 32nd time came together in Constitution Square in the early hours of the morning.

Participants between the ages of 9-85 set off from the Atatürk, His Mother and Women's Rights Monument with the starting signal of Karşıyaka Mayor Yıldız Ünsal.

Disabled citizens and volunteer participants shared the excitement in the race, which ended at Zübeyde Hanım Mausoleum.

Participants shared the excitement with their dogs and babies in strollers and created colorful images.

After the race, trophies were presented to the top three in their categories at the ceremony held in front of Zübeyde Hanım's grave.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Ünsal said, "There are some runs that are done only to reach the finish line. There are also some runs whose meaning is much more than distances, cups and medals. It is very valuable that 1500 Atatürk lovers set out with the same feeling in our race, which grows every year. Each of them expresses their love for Atatürk, their loyalty to the Republic and their gratitude to our Mother Zübeyde with the steps they take. Karşıyaka's "There are not enough words to describe the love of Ataturk. This love lives on in our history, our streets, our way of life and the character of our city. It is a great honor for us to have our mother Zübeyde buried in Karşıyaka. It is deeply moving to be in her presence and to think about how the child raised by a mother changed the fate of a nation. We, the people of Karşıyaka, will always continue to carry the responsibility of protecting this great legacy in our hearts."
