Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Revises the Cabinet

Japanese Prime Minister Takaiçi Sanae made a revision in the cabinet.

According to Kyodo agency news, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama, Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi, Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Ryosei Akazawa and Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara will continue their duties in Takaichi's new cabinet.

Accordingly, Hisayuki Fujii replaced Yoshimasa Hayashi as the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Takashi Yamashita replaced Hiroshi Hiraguchi as the Ministry of Justice, and Yoshihiro Seki replaced Yohei Matsumoto as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Kazuo Yana replaced Norikazu Suzuki in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Tatsunori Ibayashi replaced Yasushi Kaneko in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and Hiroyoshi Sasagawa replaced Hirotaka Ishihara in the Ministry of Environment.

Shunji Furukawa was appointed to replace Hisashi Matsumoto in the Digital Ministry, Goshi Hosono was appointed to replace Takao Makino in the Ministry of Reconstruction, and Yasuhiro Hanashi was appointed to replace Jiro Akama as the Chairman of the National Public Security Commission.

Additionally, JIP member Hiroshi Nakatsuka, the coalition partner of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), joined the cabinet as Minister of State for Regulatory Reforms.

Nakatsuka became the first name from JIP to enter the cabinet after the partnership established between LDP and JIP in October last year.

The new cabinet is expected to officially take office today, following the ministers' inauguration ceremony to be held at the Imperial Palace.
