Young man reports sexual harassment in Nova Friburgo hospital before dying

The young woman, identified by her family as Maria Laura, had sickle cell anemia since birth. She was admitted to the hospital on September 4, after her health worsened.

On September 7, while receiving a blood and oxygen transfusion, according to the family, the young woman told her mother and a cousin that the professional had touched her breasts while adjusting the electrodes.

The family contacted the police and registered a report. Maria Laura, however, did not give a formal statement. The young woman died on September 10th.

Nova Friburgo City Hall announced the preventive dismissal of the employee and the start of an administrative investigation to investigate the facts.

According to the note, the responsible sectors were called to adopt the necessary measures and begin investigating the facts and that, if the investigations reveal responsibilities, the appropriate administrative and legal measures will be adopted, respecting due legal process.

The City Hall also stated that it repudiates any form of harassment, violence or conduct that violates the dignity and integrity of any person.

The municipal secretary of Health, Gabriel Wenderroschy, took a position on the case through social media and said that a meeting was scheduled to hear from the victim's family.
