Arif Kocabıyık, who tried to escape to Bulgaria from Kapıkule Border Gate, was arrested

A search and control was carried out on the TIR that came to Bulgaria from Kapıkule Border Gate, and two people were detected hiding under the trailer of the TIR under the control of customs enforcement teams.

It was determined that the people captured were Arif Kocabıyık and S. P. S., an Iranian national. Antalya 35th Criminal Court of First Instance ruled against Kocabıyık, who is publicly known as a YouTuber, under Article 299/1 of the Turkish Penal Code. It was determined that there was a ban on traveling abroad within the scope of the crime of "insulting the President" regulated in the article.

It was assessed that Kocabıyık, who was determined to be subject to ongoing measures, hid under the truck trailer in order to cross to Bulgaria, and following the incident, judicial proceedings were initiated upon the instructions of the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Kocabıyık and the truck driver M.A. were taken into custody.

The foreign national was handed over to the Provincial Immigration Administration.

Journalists asked "Where were you going to run away?" Kocabıyık answered the question: "Anamur". Kocabıyık and the driver M.A. He was taken to the prosecutor's office for questioning.

Stating that there was a judicial control decision against him, Kocabıyık said, "I have been doing this job since 2018. Negative things happened to me many times, I stopped doing street interviews 2.5 months after I was released. Then I started making travel videos. Now I wanted to edit travel videos abroad. Since I had a ban abroad, I decided suddenly and wanted to go based on the words of a person named Muhammed, whom I know here. I do not know the surname of this person named Muhammet. Since I have a ban on going abroad, this person named Muhammet sent me a message." He took me to the truck. When I got there, there was another person there. The truck stopped shortly after moving. When I saw the officers coming, I went out on my own and talked to the officers. The images given to the press were taken 1.5 hours after the incident.

Antalya 35th Criminal Court of First Instance decided to arrest Arif Kocabıyık, who was found to have violated the judicial control measure applied to him by attempting to escape abroad. After his procedures were completed, Kocabıyık was delivered to Edirne L Type Closed Penal Institution.
