Dismissals and Appointments in the Ministry of Public Works After the Maritime Accident in TRNC

Following the dismissal of the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Erhan Arıklı, following the ship accident that occurred off the city of Kyrenia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), in which 12 people lost their lives, high-level dismissals and appointments were made in the Ministry.

According to the decrees published in the Official Gazette, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport Enver Öztürk was dismissed as of September 5, 2026.

Murat Saler was appointed as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, replacing Öztürk, as of September 5, 2026. Ministry Director Mustafa Ambar was also dismissed from his position as of September 5, 2026.

It was decided to dismiss Ports Department Director Emsal Emirzadeoğulları as of the same date. No appointment has been made yet to replace Ambar and Emirzadeoğluları.

The dismissal and appointment decrees included the signatures of the Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport Özdemir Berova, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and President Tufan Erhürman.
