Queen Mette-Marit is missing from the swearing-in of Haakon VIII.

After the death of the Norwegian King Harald V, his son Haakon VIII will take his oath to the constitution in the parliament in Oslo on Tuesday afternoon. However, Queen Mette-Marit will not be there. The reason for this is renewed health problems with her transplanted lung.

The 53-year-old must continue to be monitored medically, according to a statement from the royal family. Harald V. died on Friday morning at the age of 89. He had been on the throne since 1991 and was widely seen as the embodiment of an open and tolerant Norway. Harald had been treated in hospital for hemolytic anemia since August 17th. Health problems had already forced him to limit his official appointments in his final years.
