Bereits Ende August sei in dem Komplex eine Kurierin bei der Übernahme von 130 Kilogramm Kokain festgenommen worden, hieß es weiter. An den Maßnahmen am Flughafen waren den Angaben zufolge auch Spezialeinheiten sowie weitere Kräfte von Zoll und Landeskriminalamt beteiligt.

Bei den Ermittlungen ist nach Angaben der Polizei auch die Gemeinsame Ermittlungsgruppe Rauschgift (GER) zum Einsatz gekommen. Sie ist ein Zusammenschluss von Ermittlern des hessischen Landeskriminalamtes und des Zollfahndungsamtes Frankfurt am Main und soll den Angaben zufolge hessenweit die Drogenkriminalität bekämpfen.
