Woman seriously injured after shooting in sports hall

The alarm about the shooting came in at 9 p.m. on Friday night. The shot woman is being treated in hospital for very serious injuries.

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They were arrested on Saturday morning.

- They are over 15 years old, says police spokesperson Mats Eriksson.

The police do not rule out that more perpetrators may be involved.

- We are working intensively on this case and we are far from finished, says Mats Eriksson.

Interrogations are to be held with the two arrested teenagers and with several witnesses. The police also review various technical investigative measures, such as whether there is surveillance footage.

During Saturday, patrols will be on site in the area by the sports hall for the purpose of creating security. Anyone with information to provide is welcome to come forward and share it.

A football match and floorball match were played at the facility on Friday. The sports hall is located next to a school in Älvsjö. However, the shooting should not have occurred in the same space as the matches.

- The woman was in part of this sports facility and that's where the crime took place. There were a lot of people at the site, but not exactly in that part of the sports complex. Most were in another hall, says Mats Eriksson.

People who were in the facility had to leave it at 10 p.m.

A preliminary investigation into attempted murder has been launched and the police have carried out a technical investigation at the scene. The police do not want to go into whether the shot woman was the intended target.

- That is what we are looking at. Why is she shot and what is behind it, what connections are there to her? It is part of the motif image, says Mats Eriksson.
