Lavrov accuses Europe of preventing peace negotiations in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused European states of preventing peace negotiations over the war in Ukraine. Europe is doing everything to thwart a peaceful solution, Lavrov said during his appearance at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

"Recognizing the futility of its efforts in Europe, it is doing everything to prevent a peaceful solution and thwart the prospects of negotiations in which many are interested, including the administration of (US President Donald) Trump," Lavrov said.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Minister accused Western states of supplying Ukraine with weapons and supporting the country in "aiming drones and missiles at civilians and civilian infrastructure."

Russia has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine for more than four years, using missiles, drones and glide bombs against cities and other targets in the neighboring country.

Lavrov announced that Russia would continue the war. The “fight for truth and justice” will be fought to the end, he said. The military goals would be achieved, Russia's security would be guaranteed and peaceful life would be restored.
