The Maintenance Engineering Office of the Taoyuan City Government continues to promote the upgrading of street lighting quality. Considering that traditional single-color-temperature lighting can easily cause visual fatigue or slow perception of intersection dynamics for drivers in certain weather or nighttime settings, it has expanded the replacement of "double-color temperature" lighting at intersections with frequent pedestrian and vehicle traffic and high pedestrian and vehicle accident hotspots. "Color Temperature LED Street Light", through the combination of light sources and visual contrast of different color temperatures, introduces the scientific theory of light and dark vision, uses white light with a color temperature of 5000K to narrow pupils, improve depth of field and recognition, enhance the conspicuity of intersections and the surrounding environment, enhance driving warnings, and ensure the protection and safety of pedestrians when crossing intersections.

Jiang Zhinan, the director secretary of the Department of Health and Welfare, said that according to the hot spots of car accidents on the Ministry of Transport's Road Safety Information Inquiry Network, it can be seen that most traffic accidents mainly occur at intersections, and visibility at night is weaker than during the day. In order to improve the safety of pedestrians and vehicular intersections at night, the implementation of dual-color temperature LED street lights in this case will be implemented in stages. It will first be trialled on major arterial roads in each administrative region, and the effect of reducing accidents will be observed over the years. The nighttime accident rate at high-accident intersections has dropped significantly by 20% to 30%.

Secondly, the top 200 accident-prone intersections and unsignaled intersections in the city were screened. Finally, in accordance with the characteristics of fixed groups in various places, it was gradually expanded to the school corridors that young children use every day, including the city's colleges and universities, high schools and vocational high schools, elementary and middle schools and municipal schools. There are 316 kindergartens in total, 26 hospitals that are frequently visited by the elderly, and 73 near night markets and business districts that are crowded with people at night. They have recently been renovated, such as Taoyuan Tourist Night Market, Zhongyuan Night Market, Xingren Garden Night Market, etc.

Jiang Zhinan said that behind every light that is lit is the Tao City Government's Nursing Office's commitment to citizens returning home safely late at night. At present, the city has replaced more than 2,000 intersections with dual-color temperature LED street lights, allowing commuters from get off work late at night and elderly people returning home from walks. And every pedestrian walking on the street at night can move forward steadily under bright and clear-contrast light. Through carefully considered hardware improvements, it protects the daily life of every family and works together with citizens to create a safer and warmer nighttime traffic environment.
