Luka Modric talks about himself: "My goal is to win with Milan"

"My mission is to give my all and help the team win as much as possible. I came back as if it were the first time and I had to win. There's no need to talk a lot: now we have to act. Stay humble, work hard, stay united. If you play for a club like Milan, the most normal thing is to think you want to win and not just qualify for the Champions League": Luka Modric - in an interview on the club's official channels - summarizes his state of mind on the eve of his second year in the Rossoneri shirt.

"You have to aim for the maximum: this is why I'm here, this is my objective. Together with the club, the owners and the coach - he explains - we share the same objectives and for these reasons I decided to return".

Modric confesses that he "always had Milan in his head" even when he was at the World Cup. "I have always remained in contact with the people at Milan and - says Modric - despite being at the World Cup, I always had Milan in my mind. I could have signed a one-year extension at any moment of the season, even in December, but first I wanted to listen to my body, and understand how I felt, how hungry I was, how much passion I had to play again."

"Milan - he adds - showed how much they cared about me and the fact that I was part of this new project: it was what I needed, what I wanted to hear. I talked about it with my family and I decided to stay. Every player needs the trust and love of the club, of the fans, of my teammates, of those who work in the team".

After the injury against Juventus and at the age of 40, he never thought he had reached the end of his adventure with the Rossoneri: "I never thought - he explains - that that could be my last match with Milan. I really wanted to return to play immediately. I wasn't comfortable with the protective mask, but inside myself I knew I wanted to continue and at the same time I had to check other things that would allow me to do so. Now I'm here and I'm very happy to be back".

After Cagliari, the champion felt frustrated: "If I have to summarize everything in one word I say 'frustration', because until the final part of the season we were doing well, playing well and obtaining results until March. Up until that moment, we were fighting for the title. As for me, I was sorry that I wasn't able to help the team like I had done before. It was a really difficult moment for me."
