Mazloum Abdi was appointed as Syrian Presidential Advisor

Speaking to Al Arabiya, a source close to Abdi said that Abdi, who was appointed as the Presidential Advisor with the decree issued by Syria's interim President Ahmed Shara a few days ago, has not officially started his duty yet.

According to the source, Abdi plans to leave Hasakah, where he has been for many years, and settle permanently in Damascus. It was stated that Abdi was staying at a base belonging to the US-led international coalition in Hasakah.

It was stated that Abdi is expected to finalize some files that need to be resolved in the field before moving to Damascus. These include the return of displaced Kurds to their cities and the delivery of heavy weapons remaining in the hands of the dissolved SDF to the Syrian army.

Details of Abdi's duties and powers were not disclosed in President Shara's decree. However, a source with knowledge of the subject claimed that Abdi's duty would be limited to "the management of the Kurdish file inside and outside Syria."
