It is claimed that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay will join the AKP and his party badge will be worn by Erdoğan at this meeting.

According to the backstage information provided, the option of announcing the Tugay's participation first at the AKP group meeting to be held in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and holding the badge ceremony there was considered. However, it was claimed that this formula was abandoned due to the assessment that possible participation might attract the reaction of the opposition in the Parliament.
