Busy work in the Parliament: Budget discussions continue, Red Crescent proposal is on the agenda

This week in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the General Assembly and commission work will begin on Tuesday. At the General Assembly, discussions on the 'Turkish Red Crescent Law Proposal', which includes regulations regarding the Turkish Red Crescent, will continue. According to the proposal, the first 3 articles of which were accepted; The activities of the association will be made more effective. In this context, the activity purpose of the association is defined as 'relieving the deficiencies of those in need through the Turkish Red Crescent, without any discrimination within the framework of international law and the agreements to which Türkiye is a party, eliminating the negativities experienced by citizens in situations such as disasters, emergencies and war, preventing diseases and improving health conditions.'

In addition, no other legal entity can be established with the rights and obligations granted to the association in line with international agreements. The Red Crescent will also be able to use the names 'Turkish Red Crescent', 'Turkish Red Crescent Association', 'Turkish Red Crescent Society' and 'Red Crescent'. The name, flag and emblem of the association will be deemed to be a sign of neutrality and protection, benefiting from all rights and immunities accepted by international agreements. The General Assembly will not work on Wednesdays and Thursdays due to October 29 Republic Day.

COMMISSION AGENDA

On Tuesday, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Planning and Budget Commission will hold discussions on the '2027 Central Government Budget Law Proposal' and the '2025 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal' and the Court of Accounts Reports. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz will attend the commission meetings and answer the questions, opinions and criticisms of the members of parliament. At the commission's meeting on Wednesday, the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) will discuss the 2027 budget proposal of the Ombudsman Institution.

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly will meet on Tuesday to discuss the 'Proposal Law Concerning the Approval of the Mecca Agreement for Common Defense between the Republic of Turkey, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia'. In addition to the General Assembly and commission work, group meetings of the political parties that have groups in the Parliament will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Group deputy chairmen of the parties will also hold press conferences on current issues.
