MASAK examined the financial movements of Mehmet Fatih Tançalan, who came to the fore with the images of the recent wedding in which kilos of gold were displayed on the bride, and scrutinized his bank accounts, immovable property, luxury vehicles, jewelery and foreign connections.
According to the report, Mehmet Fatih Tançalan's registered commercial profit declaration as of 2020 was determined as 74 thousand 281 TL. Although there is a working record within the scope of SSK, the report stated that no information on premium-based earnings was found, and it was evaluated that there was an 'unexplained increase in wealth' and 'lifestyle and income incompatibility' between this income and the person's living standard and assets.
115 MILLION TL TRAFFIC IN ACCOUNTS
It was determined that Tançalan had a transfer inflow of 58 million 780 thousand 234 TL to his bank accounts and a transfer outflow of 56 million 179 thousand 790 TL from his accounts. In addition, it was determined that more than 4 million 594 thousand TL of cash was deposited into the accounts and approximately 7 million 72 thousand TL of cash was withdrawn. The report also included transfers worth millions of liras at once. It was recorded that 6 million TL was entered into the account from one company, 5.8 million TL from another company and 5.5 million TL from a person.
In Çağla Öz Tançalan's accounts, an inflow of 56 million 478 thousand TL and an outflow of 50 million 859 thousand TL were detected in the same period. Thus, it was stated that the total transfer traffic in the couple's bank accounts exceeded 222 million TL.
LUXURY VEHICLES ARE ALSO IN EXAMINATION
The couple's luxury vehicle movements were also included in the MASAK report. The purchase, sale and transfer transactions of luxury vehicles in the name of Mehmet Fatih Tançalan were detected. Two luxury cars were registered in the name of Çağla Öz Tançalan. The report evaluated that vehicle acquisitions were incompatible with people's financial profiles.
MASAK REVIEW OF THE STATEMENT 'I EARN FROM DUBAI'
Intelligence information that Tançalan earned income via the 'mail order' method from Dubai was also examined in the report. However, MASAK reported that no fund transfer was found from abroad to Turkey through financial channels in the name of Mehmet Fatih Tançalan or Çağla Öz Tançalan.
The report included the assessment that if it is claimed that the income originates from Dubai activities, the suspicion that these money may have been smuggled into Turkey through accounts in the name of third parties or through methods outside the financial system will be strengthened.
CONTRADICTION IN THE 'GOLDS WERE TRUSTED' DEFENSE
In her statement, Tançalan said that the jewelery exhibited at the wedding was brought from the jeweler for advertising purposes. However, the MASAK report stated that jeweler V.K. stated that a set and two gold handcuffs were sold and that he had an invoice. Due to the contradiction between the two narratives, it was deemed appropriate to take the statement of the jeweler company representative.
The report also stated that there were 37 investigations and 20 prosecutions about Tançalan in UYAP records. MASAK noted that some files may constitute a predicate crime to the crime of laundering, but at the current stage, a direct causal link cannot be established between the proceeds of crime in these files and the assets examined.
Mehmet Fatih Tançalan and Çağla Öz Tançalan got married in April, and in June they organized an organization that was reflected to the public as an 'engagement'. Finally, after the wedding footage showing a large amount of jewelry was displayed, the financial investigation was deepened and Mehmet Fatih Tançalan was arrested for 'laundering of criminal assets' within the scope of the investigation.
