Melih Gökçek testified at the Ankara Courthouse; His son and daughter-in-law were also invited

JOURNALIST Murat Ağırel; Melih Gökçek claimed that his son Ahmet Gökçek and his daughter-in-law Hülya Gökçek made real estate investments worth millions of Euros in Germany through a company called 'Hamag', and that millions of Euros were transferred from Turkey to this company through unregistered means. Following these allegations, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an ex officio investigation against former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek on August 29, on suspicion of 'unregistered money transfers to companies abroad'.

HE CAME CHEWING GUM

Melih Gökçek came to Ankara Courthouse yesterday to testify within the scope of the investigation. It drew attention that Gökçek entered the courthouse by chewing gum. Gökçek, who gave a statement to the prosecutor for about 2 hours, said in his statement while leaving the courthouse, "The investigation is confidential. Therefore, do not expect anything like 'I said this, I said that'. The prosecution's investigation will be over. We will get the result. We will talk a lot on television. Gökçek is not a man who does not talk." Stating that this was not the first time he came to the prosecutor's office to testify, and that he had gone through many investigations during the previous governments, Gökçek said: "I was first elected as mayor in 1994. I was the mayor of the opposition for about 9 years, starting from 1994. Opposition parties scrutinized me. I went through 500 investigations and investigations. And I testified in all of them. Can you imagine; SHP government, DSP government, ANAP government... Everything from me." He asked, there was nothing he didn't ask.

Gökçek stated that it was also inspected during the Welfare Party and AK Party governments and said, "Praise be to God, nothing came out during that period either." Gökçek stated that 25 investigations and investigations were launched against Mansur Yavaş after he was elected as the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality: “21 of them have been completed, the results of 4 of them have not come to me yet. But 21 of them were completed. Mansur Yavaş is lying by saying, 'Sir, he did not even go to testify.'

HIS SON AND HIS BRIDE WERE SUMMONED TO TESTIFY

When reminded of former Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Bülent Arınç's statement that he could go to testify if he was called as a witness in the investigation against Gökçek, Gökçek reacted by saying, "Don't ask, I don't take questions." After Gökçek left the courthouse, Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that his son Ahmet Gökçek and his daughter-in-law Hülya Gökçek would be ready to testify on Monday as suspects within the scope of the ongoing investigation.
