Hermenegildo Pereira Netto, 96 years old, worked once again as a poll worker in this election. He has been receiving votes since 1989, in a section of electoral zone 406, in Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo.

The elderly man worked as a real estate agent until he was 84 years old. After retiring, he decided to focus solely on his passion for reading and his role as a poll worker at the Bopeva State School, in the Cidade Ocian neighborhood.

In an interview with TV Tribuna, a Globo affiliate, Hermenegildo said that he thought about stopping participating in the elections in 2022, but ended up continuing to work as a poll worker. He highlighted that he always participates in meetings to be aware of changes.

"I think we should participate as long as we can. In my case, I'm already old, but I can still contribute to democracy, which is the important thing," said Hermenegildo.
