Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently said that the company is working to improve its consumer products, including Windows, as part of a broader effort to strengthen user engagement. Speaking during the company’s recent earnings call, Nadella said Microsoft is focusing on improving quality and addressing core user needs across its platforms. “When it comes to our consumer business, we are doing the foundational work required to win back fans and strengthen engagement across Windows, Xbox, Bing, and Edge,” Nadella said. “In the near term, we are focused on fundamentals, prioritizing quality and serving our core users better.” He also highlighted recent updates to Windows, saying: “With Windows, we recently announced performance improvements for lower memory devices, streamlined the Windows Update experience, and brought back focus to core features and fundamentals that matter most to our customers.” The comments come as the company looks to respond to feedback around Windows 11 and enhance user experience across its ecosystem.
Xbox and other services also in focus
Satya Nadella said Microsoft is taking a similar approach with its gaming business. He noted that the company is “recommitting to our core fans and players” and pointed to recent changes in Game Pass as an example of responding to user feedback. "With Windows, we recently announced performance improvements for lower memory devices, streamlined the Windows Update experience, and brought back focus to core features and fundamentals that matter most to our customers,” Nadella said adding “And you also see this in Xbox, where the team is recommitting to our core fans and players and shaping the future of play. Last week’s Game Pass changes are one example of how we are staying responsive to customer feedback. ” The company’s efforts come as it aims to improve engagement across multiple platforms, including Windows, Xbox and its online services.
Windows remains a dominant platform
Microsoft also shared that Windows continues to have a large global presence. The company said active Windows devices now exceed 1.6 billion worldwide, underlining its position in the desktop market. “Monthly active Windows devices surpassed 1.6 billion, and over time Windows value will extend to deliver unmetered intelligence at the edge,” Nadella said, adding that Xbox active users have also increased. "We set new records for monthly Xbox active users in the quarter, as well as game streaming hours," Satya Nadella said.
