Migrants, Austria also resumes repatriations to Italy

Vienna has also started sending migrants back to our country.

The Austrian agency Apa reports this, explaining that four asylum seekers have already been expelled to our country. Austria's decision - as stated by sources from the Ministry of the Interior in Vienna - follows those already announced by Germany and Switzerland and was taken on the basis of the new pact on migrants which came into force on 12 June.

The transfers to our country were carried out using public transport, with the Austrian authorities providing the migrants with a train or bus ticket. At the moment, Italian government sources interviewed in this regard have not yet commented on the news.

There were a total of 80 thousand requests to Italy to take care of the so-called Dubliners from 5 December 2022 (date of Minister Piantedosi's circular which blocked returns) to 31 December 2025.
