Ambitious preparation from national boxers before the European Championship

Hekimoğlu evaluated the preparations for the European Championship to be held in Sofia, the goals of the national boxers and the Under-15 European Championship to be held in Trabzon, to the AA correspondent.

Stating that they will teach "kolbastı" to Bulgaria if they become champions, Hekimoğlu said, "If necessary, I will come out and play it too. I don't know kolbastı very well, but I love it very much. I want to play that music. The girls play very well. Of course, we have two Buses. They both play kolbastı very well. Because they are both from Trabzon. It is something specific to our Trabzon anyway. I would jump in the middle of them to experience that joy." he said.

Stating that they were well prepared for the championship with the bilateral camps they held in Italy, Brazil, Germany and Kastamonu, Hekimoğlu continued as follows:

"The most valuable tournament of 2026 is the Senior European Championship. In World Boxing's program, women and men always come together. It was not like this in the past in IBA, but now women and men come together. I think we are very well prepared as bilateral camps in Italy, Brazil, Germany and our Kastamonu Camp Training Center. We have a very good squad, especially in women. We have Olympic athletes, we have Olympic champions, we have second and third. We have world champions. We have world champions in men too. "Hopefully, we want to mobilize Turkish boxing. This can be a start. Hopefully, we will raise our flag and make everyone listen to our national anthem."

Emphasizing that Türkiye has achieved significant success in different branches in recent years, Hekimoğlu said, "I do not want to talk only about Turkish boxing. Turkey has started to make itself felt in such tournaments. Our success in volleyball, our success in basketball, and we are doing our best in football. On the other hand, Turkey is getting good results in archery and swimming. We have started to improve gradually. Our Ministry of Youth and Sports has really great support. We continue to work in this sense. I hope we can win many gold medals in the European Championship. "We want to return to Türkiye." he said.

Underlining his confidence in the women's national team, Hekimoğlu stated that he believed that they would be on the podium as a team and that he expected a more successful result for women.

Stating that preparations are continuing for the Under-15 European Championship to be held in Trabzon, Hekimoğlu stated that Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality and Ortahisar Municipality provided significant support to the organization.

Emphasizing that Trabzon stands out as a football city, but boxing also has an important place in the city, Hekimoğlu said, "Of course, Trabzon is a football city. Boxing is also very important in Trabzon, but when football is mentioned, of course Trabzonspor comes to mind. We have 1461 Trabzon Football Club. There, my brother Celil Hekimoğlu made great contributions to Trabzon and Turkish football. I would like to thank him from here, both on behalf of my family and on behalf of Turkish boxing. We also have Hekimoğlu Boxing Club. In other words, we are an athlete family. Hopefully, we want to raise the bar and achieve better success with our Trabzon, with better facilities and better opportunities. made his assessment.

A modern touch to the camping center in Kastamonu

Pointing out that more modern facilities have been created for athletes with the work carried out at Kastamonu Camp Training Center, Hekimoğlu said, "Our Ministry has done a good work there in the new period. It has made our eating, drinking and sleeping places wonderful. We have 5-star and 6-star hotel facilities. He did not spare anything. I would like to thank our Minister Osman Aşkın Bak. Our Deputy Minister Hamza Yerlikaya also has great support. I would like to thank him especially here. We have built a wonderful boxing hall with the budget we received from our Ministry." We built 8 rings. Next to it, we built a fitness center that is unique in the world. Uzbeks, Kazakhs and Italians from the world boxing came for the training camp and were surprised.
