National wrestler Yüksel Sarıçiçek reached the final of the World Championship

On the first day of the organization in the capital Astana, eliminations, quarter and semi-final matches were held in Greco-Roman style 55, 60, 77 and 82 kilo categories.

Representing Türkiye in the Greco-Roman style 82 kilo category, Yüksel Sarıçiçek beat Chinese Halishan Bahejiang 7-5 in the second round and Qatari Shahin Eidimohammad Badaghimofrad with a technical advantage of 10-2 in the quarter-finals and advanced to the semi-finals.

The national wrestler faced Kyrgyz Akzhol Makhmudov, who has two world championships, Olympic second place and third place in the 77 kg category, in the semi-finals. Yüksel defeated his opponent 6-0 and made it to the final.

Yüksel will face the last world champion, Iranian Gholamreza Javad Farokhisenjani, in the gold medal match tomorrow.

Yüksel Sarıçiçek, who wrestled in the senior categories for the first time in the world championships, said to the press: "I had tough matches. I beat the Olympic runner-up in the semi-finals. I hope to return to my country as a world champion. I believe in him. Especially our president Taha Akgül has great faith in us. I am very happy that I did not disappoint his expectations. We ask for a lot of prayers from our Turkish people for tomorrow's final and for my brothers who will wrestle. I hope we will get the belt and return to our country." he said.

Emphasizing that they were very well prepared for the championship, the national athlete said, "We were climbing to an altitude of 3,200 in the Erzurum camp. We also have the advantage it gives. We can really manage our pulse well." made his assessment.

On the other hand, national wrestlers Ömer Halis Recep (55 kilos), Enes Başar (60 kilos) and Ahmet Yılmaz (77 kilos) said goodbye to the organization.
