Minister André Mendonça presents purchase notes at a tailor shop to refute suspicion of gifts

The minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) André Mendonça presented two purchase notes in a luxury tailoring shop. Folha had access to the documents, which together total R$26,430.

The release of the notes was made by the magistrate to refute the suspicion that he had received suits as gifts from people linked to former banker Daniel Vorcaro, from Banco Master.

The hypothesis was raised after conversations were published on the ICL Notícias website, which revealed an attempt to get closer between Vorcaro and Mendonça. The action was articulated by Bahian lawyer Ciro Rocha Soares and federal deputy Cezinha de Madureira, from the São Paulo PL.

Messages captured from the former banker's cell phone show that Ciro sent Vorcaro a photograph next to Mendonça, in the store of luxury tailor Vasco Vasconcellos, known for dressing businessmen, executives and public figures. The tailor shop is located in the Jardim América neighborhood, in São Paulo.

"Speak, Vorcarinho, working for you! I took André to Vasco now, to make a suit", said the lawyer in an audio sent on February 8, 2025.

On the same day, however, Mendonça paid, in a note registered in the name of his wife, Janey Nagliatti Mendonça, R$ 16,500, to Vasco's store. The amount was spent on custom-made shirts, suits and sets, the document says.

On February 28, he paid another R$9,900 to the tailor for made-to-measure blazers and accessories.

The notes were gathered by the minister's office. The report about the meeting with Vorcaro was revealed after Mendonça removed the confidentiality of a PF (Federal Police) report that reveals the details of minister Alexandre de Moraes' relationship with the former banker.

Mendonça also received the former banker for a conversation in March 2025. The meeting was held outside the agenda and court, at the office of the Instituto Iter, founded by the magistrate to provide training, improvement and public speaking courses.

In a note after the news was released, Mendonça said that he only received Vorcaro once, on the initiative of the businessman himself, and that he simply listened to him.

In the same month, he stated that he also met with the businessman's lawyer and that he kept written memorials about the meeting in the office's records.

Also according to ICL, Ciro and Cezinha previously spoke with Mendonça about a situation related to the problems faced by Master at the Central Bank.

In another audio, the lawyer said he left the minister "shaken" by the matter brought to him and stated that Mendonça wanted to receive Vorcaro.

"André Mendonça said he wants to welcome you with me", reported Ciro. "He knows, he knew about the whole situation at the Central Bank. I told him. He already knew that Cezinha had already spoken to him."
