White Sox, Yankees, and Padres win Game 2 of the MLB Wild Card Series... Advance to division series

The Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, and San Diego Padres passed the first Major League Baseball (MLB) fall baseball series.

The White Sox won 7-3 in Game 2 of the American League (AL) Wild Card Series (WC, 2 wins out of 3) held at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas, on the 1st (Korean time).

The White Sox, who advanced to the postseason (PS) by placing 3rd in the AL Wild Card, defeated Houston, ranked 1st in the Western Division, with 2 wins and no losses, and advanced to the Division Series (DS, 3 wins out of 5).

It has been 21 years since the White Sox won the World Series in 2005 that they won a postseason series.

The opposing team at that time was also Houston.

On this day, the White Sox scored 4 runs in the top of the first inning with 5 hits.

In the top of the 6th inning when the team was down 4-3, Chase Mydros hit a 3-run home run to win the game.

Eric Peddy, who was selected as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) while playing for the NC Dinos of the KBO League in 2023, appeared in the bottom of the 8th inning as a reliever for the White Sox and preserved the team's victory with 3 strikeouts in 2 innings and no hits.

The White Sox will face the Cleveland Guardians, the top team in the Central Division, in the ALDS starting on the 4th.

The New York Yankees of the same American League won 9-2 in the second game of the WC against their rival Boston Red Sox.

The Yankees, who also won two games in a row, defeated Boston and advanced to the Division Series.

The Yankees scored six runs, including Cody Bellinger's three-run home run, in the bottom of the sixth inning, leading 2-1, to decide the game.

Yankees starter Max Fried became the winning pitcher by striking out six and allowing three hits and one run through the sixth inning.

The Yankees will face the Tampa Bay Rays, first place in the division, in the Division Series.

The San Diego Padres of the National League (NL) defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-1 and won the Wild Card Series for the second time in a row.

San Diego took control of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning, ahead 2-1, when pinch hitter Gavin Sheets hit a two-run home run.

San Diego, which defended its victory by mobilizing its bullpen, avenged its loss to the Cubs in last year's Wild Card Series.

San Diego competes with the Milwaukee Brewers, first place in the Central Division, in the Division Series to advance to the Championship Series.

The Atlanta Braves, to which Ha-seong Kim (30) belongs, lost 3-4 to the Philadelphia Phillies in the second game of the NL WC.

Kim Ha-seong, who started as shortstop and batted number 9, went 0-for-1, walked one, and scored one run.

Ha-seong Kim walked as the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the third inning and got on base, and was caught on a catcher's foul fly in the fifth inning.

In the bottom of the 7th inning with the score 1-1 and no outs on first base, he hit a sacrifice bunt, but survived by calling it a fielder's choice.

Ha-seong Kim even scored on Matt Olson's sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the 9th inning, he was replaced by pinch hitter Mike Yastrzemski.

In the top of the 8th inning, when Philly was down 1-3, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper hit back-to-back home runs to tie the game, and then Alec Bohm hit a solo home run in the top of the 10th inning to win 4-3.

The final third game of the Wild Card Series will be held on the 2nd.
