The number of mobile subscribers will reach 105 million

According to the 2027 Central Government Budget Law Proposal, studies are continuing to develop technologies in the field of information and communication and increase service quality.

For this purpose, the budget of the information and communication program was increased by 39 percent for the next year, from 23 billion 292 million 789 thousand lira to 32 billion 339 million 916 thousand lira.

With increasing investments and the development of Türkiye's technological infrastructure, the number of users in this field is increasing every year.

While there are 102.2 million mobile subscribers in Türkiye as of the second quarter of this year, this value is expected to be 103 million at the end of the year, according to the program performance information in the budget.

The number of subscribers, which has increased significantly with the introduction of 5G technology this year, is expected to continue this increase in the coming years.

Accordingly, it is estimated that the number of mobile subscribers, which represents the total number of subscribers of authorized operators providing mobile communication services, will reach 105 million next year, 107 million in 2028 and 109 million in 2029.

It is also aimed to increase mobile broadband subscriber penetration in the country.

In this context, mobile broadband subscriber penetration, which represents the ratio of the total number of mobile internet subscribers of authorized operators providing mobile communication services to the population, is estimated to be 94 percent this year.

This rate is expected to reach 96 percent next year, as efforts to expand the communication service throughout the country progress.

It is predicted that mobile broadband subscriber penetration will reach 97 percent in 2028 and 98 percent in 2029.

On the other hand, it is evaluated that Türkiye will maintain the full score it received in the United Nations (UN) International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Global Cyber ​​Security Index with its work in the field of cyber security in the coming years.

In this index, where the development or participation levels of countries are evaluated based on their legal, technical and organizational measures, and their developments in capacity development and cooperation criteria, Türkiye aims to maintain the full score of 100 in the 2027-2029 period.
