Cardinal's strong appeal. Rysia: Violence is a sin

Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś wrote a letter to the faithful of the Archdiocese of Krakow, in which he emphasized that "the word 'mercy' is inscribed in the history and mission of the Krakow Church" and more. He called for looking at the world through the eyes of the weaker and wronged, emphasizing that a true Christian attitude is sensitivity to the fate of the poor, migrants and victims of violence - currently especially Ukrainians.

The metropolitan's letter is the result, as he himself pointed out, of recent acts of violence against various people, including migrants from Ukraine. Cardinal Ryś firmly condemned not only the acts of aggression themselves, but also the indifference to them.

"To look at the world from below" - not "from above" (!) is an extremely important suggestion from Pope Leo - Mary - ultimately God: to look from the position of the "lowly", not the great and powerful; NOT from the perspective of power and strength. This is always important, but probably especially in situations of tension, conflicts of interests and beliefs. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of these - we know well: our everyday relationships (from family, through neighborhood, to social, political and church) are ALL full of aggression, grudges, abuse of force and authority, exchange of accusations and judgments, endless disputes. Not a day goes by without the media informing us about new acts of violence: against children and young people, against women, against migrants, especially Ukrainians. I think we're all talking about it now. Violence is a sin. Indifference towards her too. (...). THE MERCIFUL GOD SEES THE WEAK, AND LOOKS THROUGH THE EYES OF THE WEAK!” - wrote Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś.

physical and verbal attack by two young women on a group of Ukrainians, which took place in front of a restaurant on Półwiejska Street in Poznań,

vulgar verbal attack on two 11-year-old girls from Ukraine in Bielsko-Biała,

brutal beating of a Ukrainian couple in Wrocław,

attack with a baseball bat on a Ukrainian citizen in Gliwice.
