Modi Emphasizes "Inclusive Growth" at the BRICS Summit

Modi spoke at the session held on the second day of the 18th BRICS Leaders Summit hosted by India.

Pointing out that conflicts and tensions are constantly increasing around the world, Modi stated that the negative and far-reaching effects of this situation are also increasing.

Modi said that epidemics, climate disasters and disruptions in supply chains are not limited to a single region, and therefore they aim to promote inclusive global growth through BRICS.

Stating that the benefits of the solutions developed within BRICS should not be limited to BRICS only, Modi underlined that these solutions should be made "adaptable and accessible" to the needs of the Global South.

"THE VOICE OF THE GLOBAL SOUTH IS HEARD IN BRICS"

Modi said, "Based on my personal experience, I can say that the trust of Global South countries in BRICS has increased. Because within BRICS, their voices are heard, their experiences are respected, and solutions are developed with them, not for them." he said.

Stating that the strength of BRICS comes from diversity and cooperation, Modi emphasized that countries with different realities can progress together through cooperation.

Modi stated that India focuses on four basic areas: "resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability" and added that they have transformed their common vision into mutually beneficial cooperation with the cooperation and support of member countries.

BRICS COMMUNITY

The group, which was initiated in 2009 by China, Russia, Brazil and India as a forum bringing together major developing economies under the name "BRIC", and was named "BRICS" with the participation of South Africa in 2011, turned into an 11-member community with the participation of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in 2024, and Indonesia in 2025.

Through the enlargement process, BRICS has become a community representing approximately half of the world's population and approximately 40 percent of global economic output.
