Life-threatening knife attack in Berlin-Reinickendorf: the victim's health is unclear

After the life-threatening knife attack in Berlin-Reinickendorf, the health of the 41-year-old victim remains unclear. The man suffered stab wounds to his upper body and underwent emergency surgery, police said. Two other men also suffered cuts or stab wounds. The 18 and 44 year old men were treated on an outpatient basis.

The background was apparently a dispute on Saturday afternoon between two groups of men with around 15 people involved. Tables, chairs and pepper spray are said to have been used in the restaurant on Residenzstrasse, the police said. Others involved suffered eye irritation, abrasions and bruises. Witnesses called 911 around 5 p.m.

An arrest

A 30-year-old was arrested near the café. He is considered a suspect in the knife attack, it said. The man is scheduled to be brought before an investigative court later today to examine whether an arrest warrant is issued. The investigation into the background to the clashes is ongoing, it said.
