Woman killed with a stab wound to the neck in Caçapava is buried: 'A lot of cowardice', says the victim's friend

Ana Carolina Augusto dos Santos, 29 years old, was buried this Wednesday (9), at the Parque das Hortênsias Cemetery, in Caçapava (SP). She died after being stabbed in the neck during an argument inside a house in the Santa Luzia neighborhood, on Tuesday night (8).

The main suspect in the crime is her sister-in-law, Rayara Stephanie Moreira Lobato, 19 years old, who was arrested in the act. This Wednesday, the court converted the detention into preventive detention.

During the funeral, Ana's friends and family asked for justice. According to Gislaine Gagliotti, a friend of the victim, Ana had two children, a boy and a girl.

"It was a lot of cowardice. She took the life of an innocent person who never did anything to anyone," said Gislaine.

The friend described Ana as a dear person and said that she was trying to stop using drugs. "She was such a good person. She helped everyone. Everyone liked her," he said.

According to Gislaine, Ana and Rayara had already been involved in discussions before. She also stated that the fight that ended in death was related to drug use. The information, however, was not confirmed by the police.

According to the Civil Police, Rayara initially told the police that he acted to protect his partner, Leandro Augusto Moreira da Costa, the victim's brother. At the police station, however, she remained silent.

The police seized the knife used in the crime and requested forensic examination at the scene, necroscopic examination and examination of the object. The objective is to clarify the dynamics of aggression. Rayara remains in preventive detention while the case is investigated.
