NCM Issues Red Weather Alerts for Heavy Rain and Flash Floods in Saudi Arabia

JEDDAH — The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) issued red alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms capable of causing flash floods for Makkah, Jazan, Asir and Al-Baha on Sunday.

Meanwhile, orange alerts were issued for moderate rain in parts of Jazan Region, including Jazan and Al-Darb, as well as raised dust in parts of Makkah Region.

Yellow alerts were also issued for light rain in parts of the Eastern and Makkah regions, while raised dust is expected in parts of Makkah Region.

According to the NCM's Sunday forecast, moderate to heavy thunderstorms capable of causing flash floods, accompanied by hail showers, are expected over parts of Jazan, Asir and Al-Baha, as well as parts of the highlands of Makkah Region.

Active winds stirring up dust and sand are forecast over parts of Tabuk, Madinah and the coastal parts of Makkah Region.

Fog is expected during the early morning over coastal parts of the Eastern Province, while rain-bearing thunderstorms accompanied by active winds cannot be ruled out over its southern parts.

For temperatures, Madinah is forecast to record the highest temperature at 44°C, followed by Buraidah at 42°C and Makkah at 41°C.

Riyadh, Dammam, Hail and Arar are expected to reach 40°C, while Sakaka is forecast at 39°C, Jazan at 38°C, Jeddah and Najran at 37°C, and Tabuk at 36°C.

Lower temperatures are expected in Abha at 29°C, Al-Baha at 28°C, Riyadh and Buraidah at 26°C, Hail and Sakaka at 23°C, Arar and Najran at 24°C, Dammam at 27°C, Jeddah at 29°C, Makkah and Jazan at 31°C, Madinah at 32°C and Abha at 19°C.
