Nice: investigation opened for attempted homicide after the fall of a woman

An investigation was opened by the Nice prosecutor's office (Alpes-Maritimes), on the charge of attempted homicide by a spouse, after the fall of a woman aged 32 from the window of her apartment, route de Turin, located in the north-east of the city.

“Certain elements combined allow us to consider that the fall was the result of a voluntary act by the victim”, mentions the public prosecutor in a press release, “in a context of argument”.

Seriously injured, the thirty-year-old is now out of danger, her vital prognosis no longer being threatened. His companion, aged 27, was taken into police custody. “Investigations are underway to clarify the course of events and responsibilities,” explains the prosecution. The investigations were entrusted to the city's local judicial police service and several hearings are currently being carried out.

Last year, five women were killed by their partners in the Maralpin department; femicides which represent a fifth of the total homicides occurring in the Alpes-Maritimes.
