3rd place: State and rare earth mining company sign agreement to pave road between Caldas and Andradas

The Government of Minas, the City of Caldas and Meteoric Resources signed a partnership worth R$60 million to pave 23 kilometers of the road between Pocinhos do Rio Verde, in Caldas, and Andradas. The agreement was formalized on Wednesday (26), during Exposibram, in Belo Horizonte.

Paving is an old demand and should improve transport for residents and producers, the flow of agricultural production, access to public services and tourism in Pocinhos do Rio Verde.

Despite the signing of the agreement, there is still no forecast for the start of works. An inspection carried out in May assessed the conditions of the route and the work required. Preliminary studies showed a favorable route, with the need for fewer structural interventions than initially planned.

2nd place: Kohler closes factory in Andradas and closes Fiori brand; more than 400 employees are fired

Kohler closed the Andradas (MG) factory on August 31 and closed the Fiori brand, leaving more than 400 employees laid off. According to the company, the decision is part of a strategy to concentrate investments in the premium and luxury segments.

Workers will be on paid leave, with full wages, until September 30th. The company informed that it will continue to operate in Brazil through distribution and customer service and hired a consultancy to help affected employees in the search for new opportunities.

Andradas City Hall informed that it will meet with company representatives to monitor developments. The trade association and CDL made CV databases and job interviews available to those laid off.

The storm that hit Varginha (MG) on Monday night (31) caused falling trees and branches, roofing, damage to structures and a lack of electricity in different parts of the city.

In the center, branches blocked roads and metal structures fell onto wiring. There were also incidents on MG-167, at the exit to Três Pontas, and a large tree fell on a property.

According to Inmet, the wind gust reached 109.08 km/h. The Fire Department recorded more than 50 calls related to rain and winds. There were no injuries.
