The Sesc Marília unit will open on November 14th. With 30.6 thousand square meters of built area, the space opens its doors with a special program that brings together sporting activities, workshops and free cultural presentations.
This Wednesday (4), the institution gathered the press to present the complete structure of the complex, which marks the 45th Sesc unit in the state of São Paulo in the year in which the institution celebrates 80 years. g1 visited the site to check details of the facilities.
For the management of the unit, the arrival of the center meets a long-standing expectation of the region's residents focused on quality of life and leisure.
"There is a great expectation regarding the opening: people comment on the shows, the use of the swimming pools or the gymnastics practice. In some way, Sesc arrives to help fill a need in the municipality and contribute to transforming the reality focused on well-being in the city", highlights the unit's manager, Hideki Yoshimoto.
With the capacity to receive up to two thousand people per day, the architectural project, located at Rua Antônio Gallina, 75, in the Jardim Portal do Sol neighborhood, was developed to break the traditional division between centers of culture, sport and education, focusing on continuous coexistence between the different environments.
"In the rest of the world, it is common to find sports centers, theaters or cultural spaces operating in isolation. Sesc managed to structure a physical and functional integration of these areas, promoting an integral formation of the person, which stimulates the body, mind and sensitivity", explains the architect responsible for the project, Christina de Castro Mello.
According to the professional, the visual design prioritized transparency and free circulation.
"The spaces need to be spacious, generous and fluid, without the need for rigid divisions. The proposal is for visitors to walk around, discover the activities and come across other groups. The building was designed to be transparent and inviting, allowing everyone to have access to the range of experiences on offer."
The complex brings together a complete infrastructure focused on services in the areas of health, sport, artistic training and the environment.
The unit has a covered multi-sports gym, an outdoor court with rubber flooring, a sand court with bleachers, a multifunctional gymnasium for physical training, changing rooms with electronic lockers and two uncovered swimming pools, with depths ranging between 0.90 m and 1.40 m.
The public will have at their disposal a theater with 217 seats, space for exhibitions, a library with a collection of more than 4 thousand titles, a play space dedicated to children up to 6 years old and the Technology and Arts Space (ETA), equipped with 3D printers and machinery for carpentry and sewing workshops.
The facilities house a dental clinic with three offices, a cafeteria, a cafeteria, a gazebo with panoramic views of the city and a Customer Service Center.
The unit also houses an Environmental Education Center dedicated to ecological courses, workshops and debates in partnership with schools and the community.
Almost 41 thousand m² of the land — equivalent to 67% of the total area — correspond to a permanent preservation area of native forest maintained by the project. The structure also incorporates its own solar plant, rainwater reuse system, planned natural ventilation and charging points for electric vehicles.
The official opening event, on Saturday (14), will be attended by gymnasts from the Brazilian rhythmic gymnastics team, former volleyball athletes and Paralympic athletes. The highlight of the musical program is the show by singer Elba Ramalho, who performs at 7:30 pm, in the unit's gym.
Tickets for cultural attractions are free and must be collected in person at the venue, with a limit subject to the capacity of rooms and spaces.
On the first day, the pools will be open exclusively for sports presentations and demonstrations. Recreational use by the general public will be permitted on Sunday (15). To enter the water, it is mandatory to present a valid Full Credential and an up-to-date dermatological exam, in addition to wearing appropriate swimwear. Dermatological examinations can be carried out free of charge at the unit from Saturday onwards.
Between November 14th and 22nd, the space will also open the registration period for dental care, an exclusive service for accredited and dependent workers in the trade of goods, services and tourism.
Access to the facilities is open to the general public. However, registered workers in the trade of goods, services and tourism and their dependents are entitled to the Full Credential.
The credential is valid for two years, is free and guarantees priority access to spaces such as swimming pools and courses, exclusive access to dental treatments and discounts on tickets to shows, workshops and theatrical performances.
