Well, colour me surprised, but the Dragons have managed to hold the Sea Eagles out for the last 12 minutes of that half after five straight tries, four of which came in a 10-minute window.

At this rate, Manly is going to be keeping the pressure right on Canterbury and North Queensland for eighth spot in the finals.

The bomb goes up and this time Tom Trbojevic manages a clean take.

The crowd somewhat sarcastically applauds and Trbojevic takes a second to give them a thumbs-up. Hey, that's Jake's move!

The young Dragon could have reached out and slammed it down as he hit a short ball hard, but the ball comes loose and the Sea Eagles get possession, and a penalty to boot.

Tom Trbojevic isn't reading these bombs at all and he fumbles another one.

That's just inviting the Dragons back into this, although it isn't likely with stats like this at the half-hour mark.

It's a demolition derby at Brookvale Oval

The Sea Eagles are just running through, over and around the Dragons' defence, and this time it's Tom Trbojevic who receives the ball out the back, pins his ears back and burns past Moses Suli to score.

This is turning ugly. And there are still 11 minutes left before half-time.

MANLY GOES THE DISTANCE!

The Sea Eagles spin it from their 20m line and Haumole Olakau'atu and Tom Trbojevic combine to put Jason Saab away down the right.

Trbojevic is pulled out of it off the ball by Valentine Holmes, but Reuben Garrick flies up in support to receive the inside ball and score.

A third for Manly and it's a carbon copy of the last

Again the Sea Eagles go wide right, again Val Holmes rushes up on Jamal Fogarty, against Fogarty skips away and again he kicks out to the right for Jason Saab to score.

This time it was a grubber and I think it was actually intended for Reuben Garrick, but a sharp bounce took it into Saab's path.

21' Dan Atkinson is limping badly

The Dragons fullback comes off second best in an aerial contest with Nathan Brown. It looks like Atkinson copped Brown's knee in his shin and is struggling to walk out there.

The Sea Eagles are too slick

Jake Trbojevic breaks the line and has the defence retreating. Manly reloads and spins it wide right to Jamal Fogarty. Valentine Holmes flies out of the line but he's easily dodged by Fogarty, who settles and dinks in a kick out to the right for a flying Jason Saab to score.

The rangy winger slips over very close to the dead-ball line, but manages to get it down.

15' Tom Trbojevic with a massive blunder

Kyle Flanagan's bomb is a little scuffed and spins through the air a bit irregularly as a result, and Tom Trbojevic makes a meal of the catch.

Mercifully for the Sea Eagles, the errors keep coming as Valentine Holmes takes his turn dropping it cold.

Not the highest-quality contest thus far.

14' Manly can't make them pay

Moses Suli drops the ball cold as he trucks it out of danger, gifting the Sea Eagles possession inside the 20m zone.

But Manly's attacking raid ends as Simione Laiafi fumbles a short ball as he makes a hard charge on the tryline.

The Sea Eagles strike first!

They spread it left and the jamming defence is on point, but replacement five-eighth Clayton Faulalo catches and passes superbly under pressure, hitting Lehi Hopoate right on the chest to score.

That's a remarkable play by Faulalo.

7' Hopoate avoids Manly disaster

Tom Trbojevic marks Kyle Flanagan's long set-ending kick, and offloads to Lehi Hopoate on a wraparound, but the pass is way out in front and Hopoate makes a sensational one-handed catch to avoid handing the Dragons possession 15 metres out.

2' Manly get right on the attack

First chance they get, the Sea Eagles put the ball into the air for big Tom Trbojevic to contest with Dan Atkinson.

Atkinson fumbles under the pressure, and I think we can expect a bit more of that tactic tonight.

About last night

It was another miserable evening for the Broncos — their ninth straight loss at Lang Park — but the stuff that happened between kick-off and full-time was only part of it.

After a rocky lead-up, the on-field tribute to injured and retiring captain Adam Reynolds was also botched.

The season in Brisbane ending in fitting fashion really.
