Our representative Galatasaray hosted the German team Stuttgart in the 4th week of the UEFA Champions League and won the tough match 2-0. Aleksey Batrakov scored the goals that brought the victory to the yellow-reds. With this victory, Galatasaray increased its points to 6, and Stuttgart was defeated for the first time.
After the match, Galatasaray Coach Okan Buruk spoke at the press conference.
HERE ARE OKAN BURUK'S WORDS:
We have already mentioned how our opponent plays. We stated that the last league match would be the benchmark for us. It is a team that plays with a triple defence, 3-4-1-2 formation, and can create danger at any time with its offensive power and high-quality players. However, we also said that if we do the right things, we can get into many positions. We did this much better in the first half and got a 2-0 win.
"THE GROUND AFFECTED BOTH TEAMS"
We could have evaluated the offensive transitions a little better in the second half. The ground affected both teams. A lot of long balls were used in the game. The two teams putting pressure on each other also caused an increase in long balls. When we won the second ball, we had the chance to get into position. However, we also gave our opponent important opportunities at the beginning of the match and in the second half.
"IT IS IMPORTANT TO DEFEAT A GERMAN TEAM"
We are happy that we won. We reached 6 points. It's important to beat a German team. Our opponent showed his physical strength throughout the match. When I looked at their average height before the match, I saw that they were 1.86 meters. They are a very good team with both their physical quality and resistance in the game. Their technical capacity is also high. It is pleasing for us to beat such a team.
"IT IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE COUNTRY SCORE"
Moreover, each of our wins is also very important for the country's points. As Turkish football and our clubs, we are increasing our country's score. We aim to catch up with the countries above us. That's why it is very important for us to both win the match and advance to the next round.
"WE WANT TO ENTER THE NATIONAL CALL WITH A VICTORY"
We've said this before and even joked about it. As a birthday present, I said that I wanted to win all the matches until the national break. Now we have one match left in Amed. Hopefully, we want to win that and enter the national break with a victory.
SANE AND LEAO LYRICS
All my players strive for the success of the team. Leroy Sane also works 100 percent in every training and does his best to get the jersey again. As you know, we had Leroy play in the league match and gave him 90 minutes. It is very important for us that he is 100 percent ready and gets certain playing time in such matches. Our plan today was to start with Barış on the left and continue with Leao. Because Leao also needs match performance. He played 90 minutes four days ago.
"ALL OF THEM ARE DOING THEIR BEST"
We have a large staff. All our players want to play and do their best. However, we can go on the field with 11 people and make 5 substitutions. We are experiencing difficulties in this. Our players have made important signings for the club and they are working hard to repay them. Do not think that the substitute players did not work hard enough in training. They're all doing the best they can.
"I AM WORKING WITH A GOOD GROUP OF ACTORS"
We try to ensure that they are happy both in training, in the facilities and within the club. When they come to this stadium and appear in front of our fans, they do their best to demonstrate their individual quality. They also contribute to the defense when the ball is with the opponent. I'm working with a really good group of actors. The players know each other, but with the addition of new transfers, the process of getting used to each other both on and off the field was important.
"TOP 24 IN THE WORST SCENARIO"
Our first goal is always to win all the matches we play. We have four matches ahead of us. We think that if we win these, we can first get into the top 8 and then the top 16. However, our main goal is to be among the top 24. In the worst case scenario, we want to be in the top 24. We will see where these points will take us when we win the other matches.
"THREE MATCHES ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR US"
Now we will think about the upcoming Aston Villa match. We will play on our own field. Then we will go away to Greece and then we will play a match at home again. These three matches are very critical for us. Very important matches that will determine our ranking. Our last match will be away against PSG. As I said, we want to get the most points we can. We will see, game by game, where these points will take us and how many matches we can win.
WARNING MIXED WITH JOKE TO SINGO
I think Singo went too far, so he had trouble coming back. Although we should have played a simpler position, we lost the ball and gave our opponent the opportunity to pass. You are 2-0 ahead, the game is under your control. In such a situation, the right-back should not go so far forward and try to pass his opponent. This will be one of the positions we will show him on video. It's always difficult to get into the game later. I also entered the game as a latecomer many times, especially in the last periods of my career. So I know how hard it is. You cannot warm up in the same way, you may get tired quickly when you enter the game. Joining the game later can be challenging for players. We see this in many players.
"WE NEED TO TAKE BOTH THE LEAGUE AND EUROPE IN THE SAME WAY"
We will continue the same way in the league. Nothing changes for us. Even if our opponents lose points, this does not change. Because we do not have a single competitor. Currently, the closest team to us is Amedspor, followed by Trabzonspor and other teams. We need to take both the league and Europe the same way. We have a staff that can achieve this.
