The new iPad mini comes with a remarkable refinement on the design side. The body, which is only 5.4 mm thick, offers a lighter structure compared to its predecessor. The tablet, offered in two different color options: midnight and starlight, is officially resistant to water and dust for the first time thanks to its IP67 certification. Thus, it becomes much easier to protect the device while reading a book by the pool or working outdoors in rainy weather.

While the overall dimensions of the case are preserved, the frames become thinner by 24 percent and the screen size reaches 8.5 inches. The Super Retina XDR OLED display promises deep blacks and P3 wide color gamut with pixel-level lighting control. While the maximum brightness is up to 1200 nits (more than double the previous generation), the minimum brightness level can go down to 1 nit. In addition, the nano-texture glass option that minimizes reflections is added to the mini series for the first time.

Apple uses a new system called "Acoustic Display" to increase the audio performance of the device. Special bass drivers that match the display panel and treble drivers hidden between the case and glass produce a more balanced and full-bodied sound output. To increase the comfort of video calls, the 12 MP Center Stage front camera is now moved to the horizontal edge. The 12 MP wide-angle camera on the back panel provides more consistent results in document scanning and low-light shooting with Adaptive True Tone flash support.

At the center of the tablet is the A20 Pro chip, which Apple downloaded from the tape with the latest 2 nm production process. While the 6-core CPU unit brings a 60 percent performance increase on the multi-core side, the 7-core GPU increases the graphics power by 2.7 times with hardware-accelerated ray tracing support.

Thanks to the neural accelerators integrated into GPU cores in artificial intelligence tasks, local models run up to 4.5 times faster. The dual 16-core Neural Engine (32 cores in total), especially available in 512 GB and above storage options, allows running heavy workloads in on-device artificial intelligence operations directly on the tablet. Doubled unified memory bandwidth also supports fluidity in intensive applications.

The new iPad mini includes the N1 chip designed by Apple on the wireless connection side. In this way, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread protocols are directly supported; With AirDrop, AirPlay connections become much more stable. In cellular models, the new C2 modem system is used. Providing up to a 50 percent increase in cellular data speeds compared to its predecessor, C2 keeps the connection on the move uninterrupted with advanced energy efficiency and eSIM integration.
