School bus is destroyed after catching fire in the middle of the street; VIDEO

The Fire Department sent two vehicles to control the flames. The fire happened in the Juá neighborhood, when the vehicle was on Rua Coelho Neto, which was blocked while firefighters put out the fire. The cause of the fire was not disclosed and will be investigated by the Civil Police, who were contacted by g1, but did not respond until the last update of this report.

Videos recorded at the time of the fire show the vehicle being destroyed by flames, as well as black smoke. While it was on fire, the bus was close to the sidewalk and poles, which were also burning.

The city council of Nazaré da Mata informed, in a note, that the school bus had been replaced by the company responsible on Saturday (16) and went into operation on Monday (19). The municipal management also stated that it will provide the necessary assistance to residents and homes affected by smoke from the fire.

The flames also reached the electrical network at the site. According to Neoenergia, a customer lost power at his home, but the service was restored at 5:30 pm.

The city hall also warned of risks related to the electrical network at the site, due to possible damage to the wiring caused by the fire. "The population should avoid approaching or touching damaged wires until the situation is assessed and considered safe by the responsible bodies", recommended the municipal management.
