Parents accompanied their children to the exam sites for the National High School Exam (Enem) 2026 this Sunday (8), in Teresina. On the first day of application, family members reported anxiety, expectations and confidence in the performance of candidates seeking a place in higher education.

"The expectations are high. I hope he is well placed. We wait for the result, right? We are always fighting with him to study, right? Because what we wanted for ourselves, we want to give to our son, right? We expect the best from him, right?", said Vicente Silva.

Vicente accompanied his son, Wesley Vitor, to the State Full-Time Center (Ceti) Professor José Pacifico de Moura Neto, in the Southeast Zone of the capital. The father said that the family has great expectations about the result and highlighted the importance of studies for the young man's future.

Reserve sergeant Marcos Reis accompanied his daughter, Giulia, to Ceti Dirceu Mendes, in the East Zone of the city. With a rosary in his hands, he said that parents' anxiety also accompanies students on test day.

"We have been waiting for this for a long time. It is a very important moment for them and for us too. As parents, we end up preparing together, because our nervousness goes along with them. And we are there with very good expectations", he said.

Marcos said that he has followed his daughter's preparation from the beginning and seeks to offer support throughout her study routine. "We've been following from the beginning, giving strength, always giving strength, always close, preparing them. Expectations are very good," he said.

"It's not easy, it's not easy for them, they are very nervous, we also end up being nervous together, but the expectations are very good. We hope they do well in this battle", he added.

The father also stated that faith accompanies him at this important moment for the family. "I am Catholic, and this rosary has been with me for many years. Today the meaning is much greater. The hope is to place it in the hand of God, in the hand of our Lord Jesus Christ so that everything goes well", he declared.

Wesley also highlighted the importance of family support during exam preparation. "It's great to have this support from both family and school, but it's essential from family because it's the people we love. The affection from the people we love is always worth more," he said.

Wesley said that preparation included writing essays and solving questions to gain familiarity with the test format.

"We usually do a lot of essays, practice a lot of questions. It's a very tiring test and it takes a lot of time, it demands a lot of us. If we get a little used to asking questions, it becomes a little less tiring," he explained.

The student also spoke about expectations for the essay topic. In his opinion, issues related to technology and young people could be addressed.

"The essay is very demanding because the topic is very surprising. We know more or less the questions that have already appeared in previous tests, but the essay is always a surprise topic and we always bet on a specific topic, a certain niche. I'm betting a little that it would be technology involved among young people. And if so, I think I'll do well", he declared.

In Piauí, 120.8 thousand people are registered for Enem 2026. According to the State Department of Education of Piauí (Seduc), the tests are carried out in 49 municipalities.
