Pakistan carries out air strikes on Afghanistan

According to its own statements, Pakistan carried out several air strikes on Afghanistan during the night. The ten targets attacked had previously been used for Afghan drone attacks on the neighboring country, said Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar. Pakistani air defense has previously intercepted drones fired from Afghanistan and prevented militants from crossing the border.

Afghan Taliban government spokesman Sabihullah Mujahid denied attacks on Pakistan. The contradictory information could not initially be independently verified. However, the alleged attacks mark a further escalation of tensions between the two neighboring countries.

Just on Monday, Pakistani warplanes attacked several targets in eastern Afghanistan that, according to Pakistan, acted as hideouts for extremist groups. Pakistan said 28 fighters were killed. According to Afghan information, three civilians were killed and four others were injured. The UN mission in Afghanistan confirmed the civilian casualties. The government in Kabul protested against the attacks.

Borders with Afghanistan closed
