Investigation into Those Who Recorded Unauthorized Recordings Using Smart Glasses in Paris

According to Le Figaro, the Paris Prosecutor's Office stated in a written statement that there is an increasing trend on social media platforms to record women walking on the street with smart glasses and publish these recordings.

Noting that many investigations were opened after women complained about smart glasses users violating their privacy, the prosecutor's office reminded that disseminating content using the image or words of a person without their consent is punishable by up to 2 years in prison and a fine of 45 thousand euros.

ASSOCIATIONS WARNED

The France-based e-Enfance association, which provides services to protect children and young people online and combat cyberbullying, also warned about the increase in the number of objectionable content shot with smart glasses and uploaded to the internet.

The association reported that these videos were generally aimed at humiliating and disturbing a young woman or girl in a public space.

Additionally, the association announced that they had received around 20 reports on this issue since the beginning of the year.
