With just over a month to go before the Círio de Nazaré, the price of ducks is already attracting attention in Belém, with the live bird costing between R$66 and R$80 per kilo.

Frozen duck ranges from R$40 to R$58, while chicken can be found from R$8.99, according to a survey by Dieese Pará.

With the high price and still limited supply, some families are already thinking about replacing the traditional duck at Círio's lunch.
