Jeonnam Gwangju Unified City establishes a basis for performance evaluation of future PBV electric vehicle conversion

(Jeonnam Gwangju = Yonhap News) Reporter Jang Deok-jong = Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City announced on the 10th that it will begin to build a performance evaluation basis that will lead the conversion of multi-purpose vehicles (PBVs), which are the core of the future car market, to electric vehicles.

In line with the spread of electric vehicle platforms, we plan to increase the technological competitiveness of local auto parts companies and accelerate the transformation of the industrial ecosystem.

The city is creating a foundation for commercialization of future vehicle modules at the Bitgreen Industrial Complex.

We plan to establish a support system that comprehensively evaluates the safety of power supply, vehicle driving stability, and performance of communication modules by utilizing 166 types of buildings and equipment within the Bitgreen Industrial Complex.

From this year to 2030, 11.5 billion won, including 8 billion won in national funds, will be invested to gradually install two types of core performance evaluation equipment, including a power supply driving stability verification system and a vehicle communication module performance verification system.

Based on this, we provide full-cycle support to local auto parts companies, including design and analysis, prototype production, testing and evaluation and certification, technical consulting, securing intellectual property rights, and developing sales channels.

Lee Dong-hyeon, head of the future vehicle industry department at the integrated city, said, "Multi-purpose vehicles are the core of future mobility that can be used in various fields such as logistics, delivery, medical care, and services, and a transition to electric vehicles is necessary. We will actively support local companies so that they can increase their competitiveness by receiving practical support."
