Fisherman dies after boat capsizes in the interior of São Paulo

Two fishing boats capsized on the Dourado River, in the Lins region (SP), on Saturday night (7). Of the six fishermen on board, one of them was unable to swim and died. The body was found by firefighters this Sunday morning.

The man was around 50 years old.

The accident occurred after a small boat, with two crew members, asked a larger boat for help due to bad weather. While trying to help the smaller boat, there was a collision and both boats capsized. It is not yet known which of the boats the fisherman who died worked on.

Civil Defense issued 92 alerts in the state yesterday. In Cachoeira Paulista, wind gusts reached 126.7 km/h, causing damage to approximately 20 homes and interruptions in the electricity supply.

In the capital of São Paulo, a man aged approximately 20 disappeared in a stream, around 3 pm, in the Capão Redondo region. Firefighters continue to search for the young man.

The Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo and the São Paulo Social Fund (FUSSP) distributed 130 support kits to the municipalities of Santa Isabel, Cachoeira Paulista, Queluz and Itápolis, cities with records of damage caused by gusts of wind.
