Beaten in the square and mocked on social media, 33-year-old attacked in the Pavia area

A 33-year-old man, suffering from a disability, was the victim of a sequence of violence, abuse and acts of cyberbullying by six young people, one of whom was under the age of 16, all reported by the police.

The events, made known this morning, occurred on the night of last September 12th in Belgioioso (Pavia), near the intersection between Piazza Vittorio Veneto and Via Cairoli.

According to the reconstruction of the military personnel, the group targeted the 33-year-old for trivial reasons. The physical attack took place in three distinct phases over the same evening, during which the 33-year-old was violently beaten and hit.

The subsequent conduct of the attackers made the already dramatic picture worse: the entire episode was filmed with mobile phones and the videos were uploaded and disseminated on the main social network platforms, exposing the victim to a real media pillory and to illegitimate acts of dissemination of personal data. Following the injuries sustained and the psychological trauma suffered, the man is currently in a therapeutic community, where he is followed by specialized staff.

The Carabinieri of Belgioioso (Pavia) reported the six young people to the Pavia Prosecutor's Office and the Milan Juvenile Prosecutor's Office for various types of crime: aggravated personal injury in competition, for the physical damage caused to the victim due to his defense-impaired condition; aggravated defamation and illicit processing of personal data in conjunction with the unauthorized filming and publication of videos on social media; failure to assist, for not having provided due assistance to the injured person after the attack; violation of the provisions for the protection of minors and young adults for the prevention and fight against the phenomenon of cyberbullying.

The investigations continue to define the roles covered by the suspects during the various phases of the event.
