Pinerolo, student with disability attacked and burned with a lighter in the bathroom

Attacked by a classmate in the school bathroom and burned on the arm with the flame of a lighter: this is what happened - reports lastampa.it - ​​last Thursday to a boy with disabilities in the changing rooms of the Arturo Prever hotel institute in Pinerolo, in the Turin area.

The young burn victim was taken to hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the school has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the classmate, a minor, deemed responsible for the gesture.

"We are disconcerted. Episodes of this severity have never happened in our school", declares the head teacher Roberta Martino, who reported the incident to the police. It will be up to the class council to decide on disciplinary action. "The student risks not only a suspension, but also a more serious measure, up to and including expulsion from the institute", adds the school director. The family of the young victim of the attack could also file a complaint.

Summoned by the manager, the family members of the student responsible for the attack did not show up at school at the time.

"It happened - explains Martino - all in an instant. There were few students in that locker room. We will contact them for further details".

The comrade accused of the act showed no repentance. "We would not want episodes of this type to happen again when the student who was rescued in hospital returns to class", is the concern of the school director.
