Police Resume Search for Missing 4-Year-Old Gus Lamont at Oak Park Station

Police have resumed their search for missing four-year-old Gus Lamont at Oak Park Station in South Australia's Mid North, prompted by recent heavy rainfall in the area. This is the second day of a renewed three-day search effort. Gus was reported missing from his family's property on September 27, 2023, and despite extensive searches, no trace of him has been found. The search involves Task Force Horizon, including Major Crime detectives and STAR Group officers, focusing on numerous locations on the property. Recent rainfall in the Yunta area, with almost 23mm of rain over two days from May 16-17 and additional rainfall on May 19 and Monday, has created new opportunities for evidence discovery. Police previously conducted a similar search in March after heavy rains but found no new evidence. The investigation into Gus's disappearance is one of the largest and most intensive in the state's history, involving various resources such as drones, aircraft, and a cadaver dog. Police have ruled out the initial theory that Gus wandered off, indicating no evidence supports this. Two family members are not fully cooperating with the investigation, and while Gus's parents are not considered suspects, police have indicated a suspect exists within the family. The community is urged to come forward with any information. Gus's parents have pleaded for anyone with knowledge to speak up, as their lives have been 'shattered' by the disappearance.
