Polish and allied fighters scrambled in response to Russian attacks on Ukraine

The machines were picked up due to the need to secure Polish airspace. This decision was directly related to Russia's intensified attacks on Ukrainian territory, including the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the western part of the country.

Due to the intensifying air attack on Ukraine, the Government Security Center sent alerts to residents of Podkarpacie and the Lublin region. Alarm sirens were heard in both voivodeships. The alert has already been canceled.

There were no hits at the crossing on the border with Poland

The State Border Service of Ukraine (DPSU), in turn, denied the information that the border crossing with Poland was hit during a Russian drone attack.

Fortunately, there were no hits to the border infrastructure, in particular to the border crossing, said DPSU spokesman Andriy Demchenko in a comment for the RBK-Ukraina agency.

Earlier, Reuters reported, citing a representative of the Ukrainian authorities, that explosions were heard a few kilometers from the border during Thursday's attack.

Airports in Lublin and Rzeszów suspended operations

Due to the increased risk and the need to ensure the freedom of operation of Polish military aviation, air operations at the airports in Lublin and Rzeszów were temporarily suspended.

This was a precautionary measure intended to maximize safety for both civilian and military airspace users.

Actions in accordance with procedures

The Operational Command ensures that all military aviation activities were conducted in a controlled manner, in accordance with applicable safety regulations and procedures. As emphasized in the official statement, the aim was to ensure the security of Polish airspace in the face of a real threat from Russian attacks on Ukraine.
