Alleged sect discovered in Val di Susa: an arrest for enslavement and violence

An alleged pseudo-spiritual sect was discovered by the police in the Lower Susa Valley.

Since the early hours of today, the soldiers of the Turin Provincial Command have carried out a precautionary custody order in prison against a 59-year-old man, held responsible for enslavement, mistreatment in the family, aggravated sexual violence and aggravated fraud against the State.

According to what emerged from the investigations, physical and psychological violence and sexual abuse took place within the community.

People in vulnerable conditions are targeted

The investigations, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Turin Investigative Unit and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, documented how the 59-year-old, through yoga, meditation and self-defence courses, approached people in vulnerable conditions and then hosted them in a residential community managed by him.

Besides him there are other people under investigation.
