Attempted attack on an RAF base. The police arrested two men again

British police detained two men, aged 24 and 25, in connection with a potential attack on the RAF Fairford base in Gloucestershire. One of them is a British citizen, the other has dual British-Iranian citizenship. Both were previously interrogated and were released on bail.

Now, however, they are back in the hands of the officers. According to official information, the men are suspected of collaborating with foreign intelligence and preparing a terrorist attack. The anti-terrorist police (CTP) does not hide the fact that Iran may be involved in the case.

It's going to be a long investigation

The head of the British counter-terrorism police, Laurence Taylor, emphasized that the investigation is very sensitive and concerns national security. We believe there is a very high likelihood of Iranian involvement, Taylor said in an official statement.

He added that the investigation could take a long time and the public would be informed of new findings as soon as possible.

On September 27, five British men were detained near RAF Fairford. In October, two more people were arrested. All were released on bail.

What was found on the suspects?

The police announced that no improvised explosive devices were found in the three vehicles in which the five suspects were detained. However, the officers seized a certain amount of gasoline, which may indicate preparations for an attack.
