Poland is modernizing its navy by building new submarines and training sailors abroad. Cooperation with Sweden includes both the exchange of equipment and joint projects in the field of security and cyber defense.
The new submarines are intended to strengthen Poland's security in the Baltic Sea and significantly increase the country's defense potential. The construction of the first unit is just the beginning of a large-scale modernization program of the Polish navy.
Polish sailors train in Sweden
In parallel with the construction of the ship, intensive training of Polish sailors is underway in Sweden. A group of selected soldiers started a specialized course on October 1, after previous preparation lasting since mid-August. The training takes place on a gap filler ship, which Poland will receive from Sweden until the construction of the new units is completed.
Deputy Minister Tomczyk emphasized the determination and professionalism of Polish seafarers. Thanks to them, despite many adversities, Poland managed to maintain the ability to operate submarines. Without them, we would not have anyone to train to serve in new units today, he said.
He also added that the sailors were provided with comfortable conditions during the 18-month training. They could take their families with them, which is important for the success of the entire training, he noted.
Polish-Swedish cooperation is exemplary, and the Swedish partners do not spare praise for Polish sailors. They call them great people who can cope with all difficulties perfectly - said Tomczyk.
A new chapter in Polish-Swedish relations
Deputy Minister Tomczyk assured that regardless of possible political changes in Sweden after the September elections, cooperation in the field of security will be continued. Close cooperation is in the interest of both countries. The decision to purchase three Swedish submarines opened a completely new chapter in our relations. And this is just the beginning, he emphasized.
Joint projects include not only the construction of ships, but also Swedish investments in Poland worth EUR 100 million, intended for innovative projects and support for the Polish arms industry. The Swedish armed forces also order equipment from Polish defense plants, which further strengthens the economic relations of the two countries.
During his visit to Stockholm, Deputy Minister Tomczyk took part in the Polish-Swedish conference "Sharing Cyber", devoted to cybersecurity. The meeting gathered several dozen representatives of the armed forces, scientific communities and the IT sector from both countries. Poland has made enormous progress in this field. We can learn a lot from each other, said Tomczyk.
The deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense drew attention to the scale of threats in cyberspace. Every year we record thousands of cyberattacks and approximately seven thousand serious incidents. That is why exchanging experiences, joint exercises and identifying threats are so important, he said.

Trump announced significant progress and said he would announce the location of the base, while the decision rests with the US after the completion of a six-month review of its military presence in Europe. Nawrocki criticized every attempt to reduce the sanctions imposed on Russia, calling for more stringent sanctions.
