A fire broke out at the Enel substation, located in the Fazendinha neighborhood, in Araruama, in the Lagos Region of Rio, leaving residents of four cities in the Lagos Region without electricity on Saturday night (12).

The incident began around 9:40 pm and affected residents of the municipalities of Araruama, São Pedro da Aldeia, Saquarema and Iguaba Grande, totaling, according to the company, 187 thousand customers.

In a note, Enel explained that supply was gradually normalized throughout the night and Sunday morning (13). At 12:20 p.m., all customers had their power restored, according to the note.

According to the concessionaire, shortly after the incident, in around ten minutes, the distributor managed to restore supply to 23.5% of affected customers through remote maneuvers. Within an hour, that number rose to 37%.

"During the early hours of the morning, the company's technical teams worked on site to carry out the necessary repairs," explained Enel

About the principle of fire

Enel reported that no one was injured in the fire, and that it is still investigating the causes of the incident and whether there was significant damage to the substation structure. The company also confirmed to g1 that no one was injured.
